Tom Danley is one of the most innovative loudspeaker designers in the industry today and is recognized worldwide as a pioneer for "outside the box" thinking in professional audio technology. His legendary designs have been utilized in projects ranging from ground zero bombing simulation, jet engine active noise cancellation, and sonic boom generators to critical listening mastering studios, high end home theatre, and houses of worship around the world. Amongst his most well recognized products are the legendary Contrabass subwoofer, Matterhorn Subwoofer (THE world's most powerful), and the Legendary Sonic Boom Generator that will do an astonishing 132db at 3hz (no...that is not a misprint and there is no missing zero). His technology is even found in the Space Shuttle. Danley Sound Labs designs are not the same speaker in a box. His solutions are unique and based on a thorough understanding of physics and acoustics. There is nothing else on the market quite like them and everybody who has experienced a Danley Labs product walks away shaking their head and wondering why nobody thought of it before.
SH-Mini
The SH-Mini is so cute you almost want to hug it! But small and diminutive as it is, this is a true, NO BS Danley Labs product. That means it belts out simply MASSIVE amounts of sound which are utterly astonishing considering the pint like size. 114 db out of a speaker that measures a mere 10" on a side? You must be kidding! That is about 15 db more than the tiny little cube speakers you see in many home "theater" stores. It gets even better...the SH-Mini is actually a miniature version of the flagship SH-50 and are nearly identical in sound quality...though not output. SH-Minis are ideal as mains in a small theater, as a monitor, or rear surrounds. The Danley CS-30 sub or New TH-SPUD subwoofers are the ideal match. $899 each.
SH-100
9 Inches deep...123 db of output. Think about that for a moment. The SH-100 is a mid sized horn loaded loudspeaker that is exceptionally neutral and well suited for home theater use. With a highly efficient design and controlled directivity it is an astonishing product at a very reasonable price of $1250 each. A theater system would include SH-100 speakers in front, SH-Mini or SH-100 surrounds, and a matching TH-SPUD subwoofer. The SH-100 is well within the price range of many of the more recognized home audio products that will not come remotely close to the capabilities of this speaker system. Measures 20.5" h x 20.5" w x 9" d. These are ideal as a full 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. Three of them on the front with a TH-SPUD sub make an unreal front channel array which is a mere 11" deep, ideal for use in smaller dedicated theaters with screen walls. SH-100B Passive
The SH-100B is one of THE ultimate LCR speakers for home cinema systems. The SH-100B is an SH-100 with the addition of four midbass 8" high impact drivers in a tapped horn enclosure. Essentially, each SH-100B has the equivalent of TWO TH-28 midbass subwoofers built in! This speaker has substantially greater output capability and impact than any other speaker we carry pound for pound. And yet, as powerful as it is, it still manages to be incredibly subtle, smooth, musical and detailed. A truly AWESOME product for the large dedicated home cinema system, and one of the finest music install products on planet earth. 29.5 x 20.5 x 19 in. 115 lbs each. $2695 each.
SH-100B Active Version
The SH-100B is also available in a fully active version. We consider this the ULTIMATE main channel speaker for a home cinema system. Each speaker is tri-amplified with a built in DSP crossover optimized for the speaker. The results are a degree of clarity, control, impact, coherence and sheer horsepower unheard of in the home theater market. Nothing, and we mean nothing else we've ever heard compares. While not inexpensive, keep in mind, this INCLUDES the amplifiers, meaning you do not have to purchase amplifiers for the system. Not only does it include amplifiers, but price in what it would cost you to buy nine amplifiers, 3 main speakers, 6 midbass subwoofers, plus a 9 channel digital crossover system for the left center and right front channels and all of a sudden these speakers start to look like a freaking bargain! $4995 each in standard black. SH-100M Wedge Monitor. Ideal Surround Speakers!
In a lot of surround setups, a wedge shaped surround is ideal. The wedge shape allows you to get the speaker up higher to the ceiling and still provide coverage. This is particularly good for basement theaters with low ceilings. With a 100 degree conical coverage, the SH-100M is perfect to cover even tighter theater setups. It would also be good as an LCR for a setup where the mains must be mounted above the screen in a room with a higher ceiling. $1395 each. Passive only at this time.
SH-50
This is Danley Labs' flagship product and one of THE Finest loudspeakers on the planet. The SH-50 is one of the few products which can be used for live sound, studio sound, in a commercial theater, or ultra high quality home cinema and in all four applications, be absolutely capable. With an astonishing 132 db of output, the SH-50 is unlikely to ever be strained in any home cinema application. The sound QUALITY is what is so astonishing! Coherent, seamless, utterly transparent, with absolutely unrestrained dynamics. SH-96
First of all, lets get this out of the way...this speaker is in NO WAY practical for home theater use...not that this stops many of our clients! First of all it is ENORMOUS, weighing in at 225 lbs each and measuring in at 45"x26"x25". Each box contains FOUR 15" drivers in a tapped horn enclosure along with a Synergy horn mid/top frequency design from the legendary SH-50. You'd better like...no make that CRAVE impact and dynamics the likes of which are unmatched. This box is capable of a staggering amount of ultra high quality sound, nearly 140 db. It is the speaker used in the legendary Chicago Navy Pier IMAX theater along with 4 TH-50 subwoofers. You can just imagine what this would sound like in your home or club. $7495 each.
DANLEY TAPPED HORN SUBWOOFERS
Mention Danley Sound Labs and most people think of subwoofers. For good reason. Tom Danley is world famous for making the most innovative engines of low frequency reproduction and destruction known. His designs defy the conventional thinking and perform at a level unheard of. For both output, low distortion and sheer clarity, nothing in the world will equal a fully realized Danley Sound Labs product.
NEW! DANLEY TH-SPUD SUBWOOFER!
Okay, this one is different. Only a mind like Tom Danley could come up with something like this. A tapped horn loaded subwoofer that is 48"X45"X 11". Yes, it is only 11" deep! The new TH-SPUD (Subwoofer Producing Unbelievable Depth) is thin enough to go nearly anywhere in a theater. Use it under the seats as a platform. Under the TV Rack. Behind a screen wall, under the stage. What is even more scary, is that the TH-SPUD does all this and it has MORE output than the DTS-20! To say this is a real problem solver is an understatement! I suspect it will quickly become Danley Labs' best selling sub in the home theater market. All this for only $2295!
SH-50 Tapped Horn Subwoofer
Here is the pinnacle. The SH-50 is the penultimate Danley Labs production sub. The ideal sub for those who need more output than the DTS-20 subwoofer above. With flat frequency response to below 15 Hz in room, the SH-50 is capable of an awesome 127 db of output from a single cabinet. To say this sub is powerful is an epic understatement! 4 of them are used in the Navy Pier IMAX theater in Chicago, generally considered the ultimate theater sound system. When they measured that system, the output and frequency response exceeded the ability of the test instrument to measure. This is one of the ultimate commercial theater subs and is also ideal for clubs and permanent installs needing ultra high quality bass with incredible deep extension. Danley Labs considers this their best low frequency sub. The format of the SH-50 makes it ideal for use behind screen walls or even built in. Measuring in at 45 x 34 x 25.5 and at 240 lbs, this is no tiny lightweight, but for those who wish their rib bones to bend when a bass not hits, this sub is the best combination of extreme punch with deep extension and ultra high quality sound in a size that fits most spaces we know of. It is our highest recommendation if you have the space. $2995.
DTS-20 Tapped Horn Subwoofer.
The DTS-20 is one of THE finest subwoofers on the the market. Period. A single DTS-20 is the equivalent of 3-4 of the legendary ServoDrive Contrabass subwoofers that Tom Danley designed back in the 80s and until recently were still considered the holy grail in low frequency reproduction.
Big Yet Flexible
There is no getting around the fact the DTS-20 is a large box. Yet even though it measures 84 inches long...it is a mere 20" on a side. This means it can easily be fitted behind a screen wall, into a cabinet, built into a closet or behind a wall, or placed on its' side to create a platform on which your center speaker can be placed. It can even be put into a ceiling soffit.
Floats Like a Butterfly, Stomps Like King Kong
This sub is heinously powerful, yet it is fast, detailed and exceptionally musical. Even though it is immensely powerful, the output is not the thing that hits you the most when first listening. What overwhelms people is the clarity. Those who have never heard one are astonished, time and time again. The DTS-20 has extremely low distortion and group delay. It is one of the few subs that simply does not mess up the midbass and extends the detail down all the way to the bottom octave. It is technically and sonically one of the most advanced subwoofer systems in existence.
Active Or Passive
The DTS-20 comes in two versions. A passive version which requires use of an offboard power amplifier...and a self powered unit. $2995 unpowered, $4695 powered.
The Ultimate Small Subwoofer?
Once again, Danley does it. The CS-30 offers absolutely ridiculous amounts of high quality sound in a package measuring a mere 15" x 24 x 22.5". This may possibly be the ultimate small(ish) subwoofer, with an astonishing 124 db of output. Don't let the spec listed above fool you...this sub gets DEEP in a home theater room. Ideal for use with the TH-Mini speakers. $1495.
TH-Mini, TH-28 and TH-115 Tapped Horn Midbass Woofers
These are not true subwoofers as far as the home theater market defines them. None has response much below 40hz. They are ideal for live sound where you need maximum impact. So why bother in a home theater installation? Because much of the impact and power comes from the midbass range. The Midbass sub is a category that few manufacturers have tried to tackle...we've been recommending them for years. Why would you need one? Because in many speaker speaker packages, the subwoofers are not optimized for excellent higher frequency response, and the satellite speakers used for left/center and right are made smaller which gives you flexibility, but they have a dip in response in the critical impact range. We've heard many theater systems that sounded wonderfully detailed with tremendous low bass...but totally lacked punch and dynamics. It is exactly this type of situation where the TH-Mini, TH-28 or TH-115 are ideal, particularly when you are already fully invested in your main speakers and cannot change to something like a Danley SH-100B or a JTR Triple 12LF. All are capable of simply ASTONISHING amounts of output near 130 db in their frequency ranges. Far beyond that needed for a home theater. This assures you you will never be within the higher distortion ranges when used in a home cinema system and you can use less boxes and get more sound in a live sound setup.
The TH-Mini is ideal for tight spaces and for live music where portability and high output are key. 24" x 15" x 20". 48-200hz. $1195
The TH-28 is ideal for spaces where you need limited height. It is very flexible. 30.5 x 11 x 20.5 in. 47-160hz. $1249 ea.
The TH-115 is ideal for larger spaces or for somebody looking for maximum impact. 18" x 39" x 30" 33-200 hz. $2195 ea.
TH-215 Touring Subwoofer
If you are looking for a home theater sub, this is probably not your first choice, that would go to the astonishing TH-50. For Live sound, however, this is a god send. The TH-215 has absolutely MASSIVE amounts of output power...way more than needed for any practical home cinema system. Capable of a simply massive 136 db of output from 28 hz to 120hz it is more ideal for a touring company, rental company or any live sound professional who does not want to lug around multiple bass boxes but wants one box that will fill a massive space with absolute reliability with more extension than the vast majority of big sub boxes. Measures in at a surprisingly small (considering the output) 22" x 30 x 42 and 190 lbs. Comes equipped with Castors and lots of easy to grab handles. $2995.
